Access

Shadbolt
Park is situated in the northern part of the Borough.  Its main entrance is in Salisbury Road and there are two pedestrian entrances in Edenfield Gardens. The park is open all year round, but is locked in the evening half an hour before sunset or at 9pm, whichever is earlier.  It is re-opened by 8am Monday to Friday or by 9am at weekends.

Facilities

Shadbolt
Park is a garden park with many interesting tree and plant species.  A section of the park adjacent to the house was planted as an arboretum and has a number of unusual tree species.  There is a children’s playground in the park and an informal football area.  Shadbolt House is run as a health clinic.

History

The Council purchased Shadbolt House and grounds on 5 March 1937 for £3,500.  If you have a question or more information relating to the history, please call Bourne Hall Museum on 020 8394 1734.

Volunteers & Community Groups

For park users who want to become more involved in the way the park is managed, local residents run the Friends of Shadbolt Park Group.  If you would like more information about the group please contact the Ranger Service on 01372 732000.

Wildlife

There are many species of trees and plants, which provide habitats for animals, birds and insects. We are compiling a species list for the park so if you spot an animal, bird or plant of special interest, please email us describing your find.
